Thursday 20- Wednesday 26
WEEK 48. Tough week. Thinking about my mother. Wanting to honor her and
only 2 days to work on a post. Now there was a challenge. Like a mad woman,
I searched the drawer were I keep some of her memories, I flipped through
albums, scanned her photos, downloaded them, uploaded them, wrote notes,
regretted time and again having lost all those photo albums that were inside
the darn suitcase that someone stole from us at JFK airport. Yes, someone
took our suitcase,(Agh, I don't want to think about that anymore!), and I didn't
do a thing around the house. I mean it. I had to prioritize.
So now, I am not Juana "Behind" Aragon. This week my name is Juana "Piggy"
Aragon. Next week I will probably be just plain Ms. Piggy Behind...But it was
worth it. I published on time. Exhausted, with a toothache that was driving me
crazy and a very dirty house...yet happy. If you didn't get a chance to read it
here it is:
Happy Birthday Mami!
Never had I had so many comments, on a post as with this one. The interest
it drew was unbelievable. I want to thank all who read...all who took the time
to let me know how much they loved her story! It was overwhelming for me, to
see my mom for the first time being admired by people, instead of my father.
I even got e-mails asking for me to write a book! A book on her life....the
thought went around and around in my mind. Could I? I wasn't sure...
The following Monday I sat at the dentist's office and while the local anesthetic
worked on my gums...my mind went on thinking about writing my mother's
story. Somehow after that molar was out, the first paragraphs were written in
my head...later that day on paper.
Oh, excuse me? You are wondering how I did during the extraction? How very
sweet of you to ask...Actually quite well you know...and I am back to my
normal self! Thank you!
So what else went on this week?
Well, on Tuesday...I went to my Wilton classes and watched my classmates
do pretty cake flowers. Feeling the way I had the week before, I didn't get a
chance to buy my material. However, I got it before class...paid attention and
will practice at home. Which is probably less stressful. You see we don't have a
kitchen...and that sugary, CRISCO-ey, colored icing we work with really makes
me want to wash my hands...and I can't.
I also made an effort to read some of my favorite blogs. You might want to
check out these posts and enjoy them too!

PROMPT ME! Wednesday
And of course, I always find something interesting in facebook. This time I wanted
a photo of my nephew, Alejandro, and went to his wall to silently sneak into his
"photos" and snatch one, since he was turning 30 years old on the 27 th, and I
wanted to congratulate him on my blog. But not only did I find a good photo of
him...I also saw this old video posted on his wall!! El ZORRO'S GRANDSON. This
was a great Youtube find!! Thanks Alex!!
Alright, so now let me show you the great photo I found of him!
Meet my nephew Alex, from Spain..
Oh, this is not him!! This guy escaped from my OTHER photo....he was
supposed to be on my shoulder, but flew away. Silly bird!!
Let me try again....
ooops!!
I don't know what's wrong with typepad
today. This is not Alejandro!!
This is my great grandfather on my father's
side!
Hmmmm...let me try again.
Alright!! Finally, here's my little
nephew, Alejandro! It's one of my
favorite photos with him. This is
at the Roman Aqueduct in
Segovia, Spain. Cold, rainy, and
very windy...but that doesn't
stop anyone in this family!!
It's time to say bye for now. It's almost midnight and strange
things happen to me during this time of the night....yes, I stop
writing. You guessed it. However, before I go I will share the last
4 recipes from FOOD STORIES.
- PITTY PARTY CABBAGE.
- THE TWO PIZZA PIES VISIT.
- ONCE UPON A TIME IN CUBA...
- AT LEAST I CAN PRETEND TO BE IN HAWAII PUDDING
- YAAAAAAAWWWN!!
