Saint Augustine.
I know...I know..here I go with more photos. But how could I leave out San
Agustin (St. Augustine) from our trip to Florida?
On the way back home to Georgia, I asked Pepe if we could stop and have
lunch at San Agustin. I just couldn't bear the thought of passing that highway sign
again and not visiting this historic site! After all who knew when we would ever
get a chance again...and I love history.
Did you know: The vicinity of St. Augustine was first explored in 1513 by Spanish
explorer and governor of Puerto Rico, Ponce de Leon, who claimed the region for
the Spanish crown. Prior to the founding of St. Augustine in 1565, several
earlier attempts at European colonization in what is now Florida were made by
both Spain and France.(Wikipedia)
So once more Pepe said yes to me...I guess he always does. But before we took
off he did what he always does:
That's right! Better safe than sorry....I don't know about you but I am real bad
at these things. I even dislike putting gas in my car!!
And now..of course music for the trip. Juan Luis Guerra again but this time a
softer melody I am sure you will enjoy.
Remember to dance this later with your other half...sigh...so romantic!
Hope you enjoy the tour...
LOOK AT THIS VIEW. I was so glad we stopped...so peaceful.
What a beautiful chapel. For some odd reason I really like the photo with the blue purse...
Someday I would like to come back and be able to have more time to walk
around this historic site. I can't imagine how beautiful it must have looked
before man set foot in this coast...
Absolutely beautiful! A perfect place for meditation.
Look at what a good boy Alonso was when I said I would take a photo!!
This photo cracks me up...he looks so well behaved. Look at his little hands...
oh please!!
*From here home. Pepe would be leaving in less than a month. There
would no more traveling until 7 months later, when I went to Spain to see
him...
