My Dearest Grandson Alberto:
First grandsons are so very special. Today you are five years old and I can hardly
believe it. You have filled our lives with joy from the moment Mommy and Daddy
came up our home stairs with baffled looks on their faces, and a pregnancy test
in hand, well, actually 3 pregnancy tests in their hands !!!
Your Mommy, then became a chocolate craver, her purse was always full of little
chocolate bars and sweets. She was only sick a few weeks and headaches were
her major issue. Afterward, she had a very good pregnancy and we all wondered
who you would look like...would it be a girl or a boy?...did we want to know your sex?
or be surprised at delivery !!! I have to tell you, only Daddy knew. It was a scene
at Dr. Fountains office, as the ultrasound was being done by the the technician..
Mommy and Yaya looking away, and Daddy being told by signs you were a baby
boy !!!
The months passed and when it was time, your Mommy called me because she
thought she was in labor. Yayo, Yaya and "Tata Janda" rushed, all excited with
the thought that we would be holding you soon ! And so it was...at midnight...we
were at Gwinnett Hospital in Lawrenceville. Tia Hilda waited with us too !!!
During labor Mommy was very, very brave ...she wanted to have you without any
medication...we prayed...and ..prayed some more. Do you know she even got
in the jacuzzi ? Yes ...Oh, how I admired her !!! Then it was time...and things got
a little complicated because Dr. Fountain was off that weekend, and Dr. Villanueva
had been called....and called....and called. You were near !!! We were all so very
worried !!! You know baby, Yaya, is well known for speaking her mind, so I went
out to the nurses station and told them how I felt. "MY GRANDSON IS ABOUT TO
BE BORN AND THERE IS NOT A DOCTOR THAT CAN DELIVER HIM?" I also
said a few more things...but when you are older...I will tell you. Then, the nurse,
not a midwife, said "I AM SO SORRY THE DOCTOR IS NOT HERE, BUT I HAVE
TO DELIVER THE BABY !" Yaya thought she was going to faint....but I held on!
Then, as you were almost here, the infamous Dr. Villanueva came in the door.
It took all Yaya had to control herself and not smack him...HOW DARE HE BE
LATE to your birth !!! But, Yaya was good and behaved...well, she tried....and
then your little head peeked into the world ...with 2 twists of your umbilical cord
around your little neck and Yaya's legs were trembling, and she turned pale..
and prayed some more...the Doctor got it loose and out you came !!! YES !!!
We were all in awe....looking at you ...wanting to hold you !!! However, not yet,
because you didn't breath right and you needed to get well first ....and Yaya for
the third time nearly fainted... Then,Tia Hilda took me for a walk and got me some
coffee and we waited...and waited....
When you got better, we all rushed to the room and had your First Birthday
Celebration...and we loved you then ....
And we loved you even more as each day passed.... Can you imagine how
much love that is after 5 years? That's a lot of LOVE, my Alberto!
A LOT OF LOVE!!!!!!!
Alberto, I have been blessed being your "Yaya Juni", and I am so proud that
you have turned into a bright, handsome, little boy, that loves to dance and make
us laugh...A little boy that brings joy to all around him....
Thank you Alberto for being so special!!!
Yaya loves you always....
I
