Thursday 30 - Wednesday 5
If you haven't read WEEK 44... Part 1 and WEEK 44...Part 2 please
do so before continuing!
WEEK 45. Twas the last week of the year, and all my emotions were
stirring. One year banishing. A New Year beholding. Far away from my
hubby and family got me thinking, what I would be missing ...and that
could be alarming...because tears would be flourishing. Oh, 2010! I
hope that saying goodbye is not too affecting!
Alright, enough of that rhyming stuff...which I definitely feel no passion for!
Of course it was going to be affecting me. I was already extra-sensitive from
seeing my family's Christmas photos and videos come up on facebook the past
few days. Although, enjoying them immensely...sometimes I got teary eyed...
OH, O.K. I downright cried.
Yes, I did. I cried. Every time I clicked on the videos my sister, Cary, had posted...
tears would roll. BUT, I cried from laughing at my family's extreme silliness...They
had just too much fun. NOT FAIR...I have to wait another year! Here, go ahead
and watch for yourself what went on...

Translation: Merry Christmas Eve...A very Merry one with
this big turkey!!! ( I know...it doesn't make sense...it gets lost in translation.)
Now at work it was a different story...I cried, cried. I must have looked like an
idiot as I rented out videos to people while trying to fight the tears. It's not
like I could just push New Year's out of my mind...as I said goodbye to the
customers I wished them a happy one, thus...all day long I thought of Pepe,
Mayra, Raul, the kids and everyone else I would be missing. I wondered what
they thought as I handed the movies to them with red, watery eyes, shaky hands,
and said with a quivering voice "Happy, sniff, New Year", as I faked a smile....
Before I continue with Friday the 31 st...I want to share some other photos of
my nephew, Alex, up in Washington state. He cooked a special meal for his
wife Lacy on Christmas day... I am so proud! He takes after me!!
These two sure know how to have fun and eat yummy...even if it's just them!!
Now back to New Year's Eve...I kept track of time in Spain from the moment I
got up from bed. I poured a cup of coffee and talked with, Mayra who told me
about their plans for that special night. Mayra and Raul would meet Pepe at Carol's
house for dinner and the traditional grapes at midnight. (if you don't know about
the grapes read WEEK 44!) . After talking I went straight out the door. I have
to admit I barely make it on time to work...because of these talks!
My drive to work that morning was a drive down memory lane...I recalled some
of the best and worst New Year's Eve of my life! The next photo is from one of
the best...
New Year's Eve...1967? How can I forget this one. The one with all the family
wearing paper hats made by my dad and uncles, is in my top 10...If you are
looking for me, I am the scary looking, toothless girl to the far right. Yeah, you are
right...YIKES!!
At work...I kept looking at the time in my computer and adding 6 more hours.
My goal was to get out on time so I would make it home by 5:30 P.M. or...11:30
P.M. in Spain. When it was time for me to leave, I practically ran to my car. Why in
such a hurry? Because, sometime after 6 P.M. I would get to see my husband
through Skype.
At home I poured myself a cup of coffee and sat at my desk. Checked facebook
to see what was the latest going on in Spain...and then I waited with my eyes
fixed on the computer screen's time those last few minutes until 6 P.M. At
that very moment...I posted, "Happy New Year to all my family in Spain!!!!!!"
I wanted to make a phone call right away...but I knew the lines would be
collapsed...and anyway...they needed time to hug, kiss, and swallow their
mouthful of mushy grapes! Skype time would just have to wait a few more
minutes...
Sooner than I thought, the phone rang. Pepe! It was Pepe calling to wish me a
Happy New Year. I could hear the happiness at Carol's...and in a few minutes...
I would see it!! Well, not only see it...but actually JOIN the celebration!!
First, it was Pepe. However, he was quickly pushed away by a mob. Actually
several mobs took turns. This is PART of what I saw when my sisters and nieces
took over the screen!!
And I thought I was going to have a boring 2010-2011
New Year's Eve....
After the Skype connection I felt very loved. Who wouldn't with all that attention!
Barely six hours later, my U.S.A end of the year was very different. Sandra went
to a friends, and I welcomed 2011 in my bed, next to Alonso as he slept. I gave
him a kiss and wished him a great year. Then Sandra's called...and from there
I got up... called Chris and Beth...sent texts to friends...and had one of the
funniest conversations of my life with Hilda!
As for the rest of the week...
Saturday, January 1st, I worked. Yes, I did. I guess people don't have anything
better to do than celebrate a new year by shopping for groceries. Ingles knows
this. So we open for business...
